What is my IP address?
Your public IP address, ISP, city and country, the network it belongs to, and a quick check for MikroTik and ISP owners: does your router have a real public IP, or is it behind CGNAT?

Does my MikroTik have a public IP? (CGNAT check)
Type the internet address your router shows on its WAN port. On a MikroTik it is under IP > Addresses, or run /ip address print and look at the internet interface.
Find your public IP on a MikroTik
RouterOS 7 - paste in New Terminal:
:put ([/tool fetch url="https://radiusnest.net/myip.php" as-value output=user]->"data")
RouterOS 6 - the answer is saved to a file first, then read:
/tool fetch url="https://radiusnest.net/myip.php" dst-path=myip.txt
:delay 2s
:put [/file get myip.txt contents]
MikroTik's own cloud service shows it too: /ip cloud set ddns-enabled=yes, then /ip cloud print and read public-address.
Public IP, private IP and CGNAT
- Public IP - the address the internet sees. Only one device per address can be reached from outside, through port forwarding.
- Private IP - 10.x.x.x, 172.16-31.x.x and 192.168.x.x. Used inside a network, never seen on the internet.
- CGNAT - 100.64.x.x to 100.127.x.x. Your provider shares one public address between many customers, so nothing can reach your router from outside and port forwarding does not work.
Running a hotspot or PPPoE behind CGNAT?
Many RADIUS setups need a public IP on the MikroTik, or a VPN you run yourself. RadiusNest does not: the router connects out to RadiusNest through its own tunnel, so hotspot and PPPoE logins, M-Pesa and mobile money payments, the live view and remote WebFig and Winbox all work behind CGNAT, on any internet connection.

Questions
What is my IP address?
It is the public address the internet sees for your connection - shown at the top of this page. Every device on the same network usually shares it.
How do I know if I am behind CGNAT?
Compare the address on your router's WAN port with your public IP here. If the router shows an address from 100.64.0.0 to 100.127.255.255, or any address different from your public IP, your provider is sharing one public address between customers.
Can I run a MikroTik hotspot behind CGNAT?
Yes. The hotspot itself works, but you cannot reach the router from outside. With RadiusNest the router connects out through its own tunnel, so billing, payments and remote management work without a public IP.
How do I find my public IP from a MikroTik router?
On RouterOS 7 run :put ([/tool fetch url="https://radiusnest.net/myip.php" as-value output=user]->"data") in New Terminal. On RouterOS 6, fetch the same address to a file with dst-path and read the file.
